The Amen Break as viewed in Audacity.

A break is an instrumental or percussion section or interlude during a song derived from or related to stop-time – being a "break" from the main parts of the song or piece.

Sampled breaks or break beats play an important role in many styles of sample based electronic music. Quite possibly the most commonly sampled of these breaks is the Amen Break, sampled from the B-Side of soul group The Winston's "Color Him Father" single, "Amen Brother".
